Bright blue skies, wildlife at every turn, a never ending list of recreational activities; who wouldn’t want to live in the beautiful town of Buena Vista? Well, for two kids that had spent most of their lives here, the further away they could get after high school the better. Marcus and Lacee Trusty, owners of Peak Fitness, both grew up in Buena Vista and had the dream, as most kids do, to leave our quant little town for something bigger and better. Both attended Fort Lewis College inFitnessRoom Durango. Colorado. Marcus received his degree in Exercise Science and Lacee received hers in Accounting.

After graduation Marcus and Lacee moved to Phoenix, Arizona where Marcus worked as a personal trainer and Lacee as a school district auditor. After a couple of years in the big city they started talking about coming back to Colorado. They missed the mountains and the tight knit community that they grew up in. Most of all they missed being close to their families. They had not so much asWeights started talking about moving when the possibility of purchasing Rocky Mountain Fitness Center was presented to them. It seemed outrageous at first. It would mean having to quit their jobs and give up everything that had been accomplished over the last few years. After much thought and prayer they decided this was the opportunity that they had been waiting for. So, it was time to start planning for a new future. Marcus and Lacee took over Peak Fitness on October 1st and it has been proven to be very challenging, but very rewarding at the same time.

Peak Fitness continues to offer many of the important features Rocky Mountain Fitness Center started, such as 24-hour access for members and an array of strength training and cardio equipment. Since October, Peak Fitness has implemented many new programs and offers some new benefits to the members such as a towel service, both for workouts and for the onsite showers. Marcus and Lacee have also expanded Peak Fitness to include a stretching area, which includes mats, stability balls as well as medicine balls. They have also added a brand new group fitness studio which hosts Yoga, Step Aerobics, Taekwondo, Tap Dance, Men’s Stretching, and open Boxing. New strength training equipment has also been added to Peak Fitness with a plan for more to come in the future. Additionally, Marcus offers one-on-one personal training that includes everything from post physical therapy, weight loss, to sports performance and Lacee has recently started group strength training for women.

Lacee and Marcus’ goal is to spread their passion for fitness and help people create a healthy lifestyle. The little town that they grew up in turned out to be exactly everything they ever wanted. Stop by the Fitness Center anytime if you have questions or want to look at the facility. Their staffed hours are Monday – Friday 7am to 7pm, and Saturday 9am to noon.
