Stepping out of the dressing room I ask, “What about this dress for the wedding?” My girlfriend sips her Merlot and laughs, “That’s absolutely perfect, if you’re the bride.”

It’s 7:00 on Wednesday evening and my girlfriends and I search for the perfect outfit to wear to a wedding next week. As we explore the racks, the storeowner reminds us that there are hors d’oeuvres if all this shopping is building an appetite. The store has abusiness-02 warm, eclectic feel and brings to mind our getaway trip to Santa Fe last fall. We all laugh as we recall the crabby, eccentric guy in one of the galleries off of the Plaza. This sparks a conversation with some of the other shoppers and soon we are caught up in conversation and memories. I glance at the clock on the wall and realize an hour and a half has passed – time to get going. The perfect outfit has eluded me tonight, but the jeans I found will replace the pair that wore through the knees last week.business-03

As I hop on my bike and pedal past the post office I see the outline of Mt. Princeton to the west covered with fresh winter snow. My toughest choice this weekend will be whether to go to the ski area, snowshoeing or cross country skiing. Life is good.

This experience was compliments of the Global Garage, a new shop in Buena Vista featuring new and used clothing, jewelry, select pieces of furniture and very unique gifts. Owners Cristina and Cullen have created a non-profit that is directly affiliated with the store to help the local and broader community with targeted outreach programs. Check them out on line at www.globalgarage.org or in the old Vista Tire building next to the Post Office. If you can’t make it on a Wednesday evening for moonlight shopping, the experience is wonderful any time of day.
